P&I / Liability

Often this is the cover an owner is most concerned with and its one that can really make a difference. The yacht itself, mostly, has an Agreed Value which is a known quantity. Liability is a completely different proposition and goes into unknown territory in the event of an accident. Often authorities and lawyers are involved at an early stage and this can be very disconcerting for an owner as well as his crew. Not having strong advice and adherence to certain basic rules on how a captain and crew should react in the early stages of an incident can have far reaching consequences. Specialist liability programmes are available that can step in right at the outset of an incident, protecting the interests of an owner and crew at the most crucial stage.
